My workbench and the pieces to build a frame for my chicken coop came from a scrap pile behind a shipping warehouse.
I created a box frame by inserting two screws at the end of each section to form a square frame.
Here is a completed square frame. I build 2 of these. One for the left and right side of the coop.
These are covered by plywood.
This is the frame for the back of the coop. The center board is placed to stabilize the frame. The lower half is covered with plywood and the upper half is covered with chicken wire or grid wire.
This is the frame for the front panel. The left side will be covered in wire, the right side will be covered by the
Door of the coop.
Completed coop. Doors have 3 hinges and are made of used 1 X 4's, plywood and chicken wire.
The roof is angled using 1X4's nalied to the coop exterior. The roof is covered by plywood, then roof paper, then asphalt shingles. In hiogh wind areas, I recommend you cut the shingles to 1 ft squares and nai them in individually. Rooled roofing may tear and blow away in a good windstorm.
